I know this is a long shot but I have no one to consult when it comes to cars!

basically when I’m driving my car makes a squeaky sound and also when I press the breaks. That’s problem number one

now problem too, I was driving on dual carriage way the other day and a loud bang went off under my car, I looked and I’m not sure but the black mud guard I think came off and this black fluffy padding was exposed and since then I feel like my car has now power when accelerating!! It feels like it dragging. Does anyone have any idea on what I need to do to get both problems fixed?

From the photographs it looks like the wheel arch liner as come off. It’s usually made out of plastic and is held in place by press studs or screws.if you have been through a flood this may have loosened it enough to fall. The squeaky sound could mean you need new brake pads or may be a stone is trapped.
the liner shouldn’t make any difference but you need to get the brakes checked. May be Halfords or kiwk fit. Look on groupon maybe a offer in your area.

That's the wheel arch liner that's come away and it's bent the lip of the wheel arch outwards, which I assume was during the bang that you heard.

The black padding has a wire trailing behind it, the wire is probably going to it. Have you got any warning lights on the dashboard? Being low on power is probably because the car has gone into limp home mode.

Is the brake squeal coming from that corner? Or is it both front wheels? The squealing could be caused by a stone stuck in between one of the brake pads and the brake disk, or the brake pads are worn nearly to the bare metal and one of the metal tangs is scraping against the brake disk.

Where do you normally take it for MOT?

Do you trust them and feel confident with them, if so take it in and ask them to look and work out whats wrong and give you a quote

@VolvoFan what does limp home mode mean??? 😭 there’s no warning lights on the dash.. but thankyou I appreciate your help, the sound is coming from the right side, do I just tell them to change the front break pads or all of them?

@takeaflight Do I get the wheel liner replaced or just leave it and what do I do about the fluffy padding? Someone told me to rip it off as I don’t need it 🤔

@soupfiend I’ve been driving less than a year so only ever taken it to one mot place near my house, I guess I could take it there. I was thinking maybe I need to service the car

@Daisy556 limp home mode is where the car is limited to how much throttle input it will take. It's not nice when it happens, it feels like driving through treacle. You can plant the accelerator into the floor and the car will not go faster. If the car has developed a fault, it will go into that mode to prevent further damage.

You'll at least need to have the car inspected. You're unlikely to need all brake pads replaced, but the squeaky wheel definitely needs looking at.

Please do not use either Halfords or Kwikfit unless you want to be ripped off.

A local garage will usually be a better bet.

I had a K12, love them. Take it to a local garage if you have recommendations and just ask them to look at it. It should go on for years if you get things fixed.
