Do you consider your neighbours when doing renovation work?

What I have put in the title really. Don't want to be too outing but it's the usual. Blocking drives. Mess and noise. When we have had work done we ask work men not to block drives, offered to clean people's cars and windows as they had made a mess. The neighbours don't even say hello when we see them. Just a bit fed up and wondering if it's me expecting too much for others to be a tiny bit considerate?

Yes I would. Let them know what will happen and a probable timescale.

Certainly our neighbours did it when they were having work done.

Sounds like you are doing everything right to me. Don't stoop to their level!

I would speak to my neighbours yes. Nothing you can do but being nice sweetens the pill

Yes. We popped notes through peoples doors telling them what was happening, timescales, working hours etc and apologising in advance for any disruption (because the work was going to be noisy for a few days)

No haven't let attached neighbours know as they are arseholes ( it's an air b and b) the ones below but not attached we are close to and keep them in the loop

Yes, I let my neighbours either side know out of courtesy and in case they might need to move their cars out of the way of debris

Then I let the jungle drums do the work and by the end of the week, Mavis and Fred 12 doors down know more about what I'm having done than I do!
