Peri, fibroids or something else?

Been having gynae and other issues for over a year now and last week was the push I needed to see the GP. My periods have been irregular for a while now and quite heavy, I woke up a week ago with bleeding through a tampon, sanitary towel and my pants on to the bedsheets and later that morning I had quite large clots coming away too. It's becoming a frequent occurrence when im on my period tbh.

In addition, I've been having mood swings, sleep disturbances, restless legs and bilateral joint pain which lasts a couple of days and then vanishes. I've always been a bit forgetful and absent minded but it's worse.

At my GP visit this morning she suggested blood tests due to my age (44) and I've to go back after that for an internal exam in case it may be fibroids or something going on with my ovaries.

Anyone had similar experiences or can offer advice? Thanks

My friend had this as part of her peri and she eventually got an ablation.

I’m going through the same now. It’s been a year. I also have endo. They have spotted a large fibroid on a scan.

I keep on having no periods for months then horribly heavy ones.
My GP has messed me around for 2 years my requesting more and more bloods and I’m desperate tor HRT

Yes, she had periods that were so heavy that she was scared to book a holiday in case she came on. Since the ablation she either doesn’t have a period at all or they are mild.
