If your teenage DS is tall, where do you buy trousers?

DS 14 is currently wearing H&M tracksuit trousers, adult size M, L are a bit longer but too big on the waist. They don't meet his socks... He is 186cm at last measuring and he needs some new trousers. Next 32 Long length jeans and tracksuits are too short. He's wearing a pair of 32 x 34 jeans (a bit baggy, but length is right).

All the tracksuit/jogger trousers I've looked at he would have to go to an xxl to get the length, but that's far too big. I've seen tall people wear tracksuit trousers, so where do you buy them? Without spending a fortune.

Have you tried the tall range at next? And elsewhere
Its a couple of inches longer then the standard 'longer' leg length
Might work!

Some joggers are slim fit so its easier to size up in the brands but it seems to be hard to search on those criteria

It is tought i can see why its a struggle

My ds is 6’5 and under armour trackies are good, if yours will wear that brand.

Have you tried Nike, Adidas etc.
My db is 6ft 4 and wears general sports wear from jd and never too short.

DoublePeonies · 04/06/2024 09:51

DS has been told he needs to wear shorts for the next few months, and bulk up his waist. That means I can buy him some trousers.
Currently in 26x32 jeans. His waist is 24 inches - that fits age 10 according to M&S......

Joggers have always been our nemesis.

Viewfrommyhouse · 04/06/2024 09:52

Try ASOS.

Saisong · 04/06/2024 09:59

Watching with interest as my 14yo is a skinny bean and still shooting. None of the teen trousers fit length anymore, but men's sizes just fall off his waist. For school thankfully the M&S trousers still have an adjustable waist & 3 lots of hem extension - he's down to the last of those though, so no idea what to do for starting y10!
I did find some men's joggers in Asda of all places that worked in a size small, but I noticed just yesterday that his ankles were hanging out again 🙄

On the Nike and adidas websites you can get some of their styles in extra long. It's a bit limited though and the long sizes are often sold out. My ds wears joggers that flap round his ankles- doesn't seem to care! And lulu lemon menswear comes in long lengths, but not cheap!

I have the same problem 15 year old with a small waist and Next long no longer fit, boo hoo tall range is your friend and can I also say that the cargo shorts they do in tall fit are amazing quality for around £18 was very surprised so bought loads of the summer in various different colours

ColourMeBlue · 04/06/2024 10:12

BooHoo tall mens section.Luckily enough my son isn't fussed on branded clothing so it works out well

tinks3110 · 04/06/2024 10:12

My 17 year old is tall and skinny, we've had success in the Boohoo man tall section and he has some jeans from Hollister who do a 34 leg.

averythinline · 04/06/2024 12:35

Jeans manufacturers slightly better, some next, tracksuit bottoms nightmare ended up with cotton traders /m &S in desperation as they do long leg.... Thankfully at nearly 20 has filled out enough to be nearly a 30 waist...

Adidas also do a few styles

Next not great quality... Often mikatary surplus and boots !

Hoppinggreen · 04/06/2024 12:37

Hollister, Abercrombie and (surprisingly) M&S
They all do a 34 leg if thats long enough

Redannie118 · 04/06/2024 12:40

My son is 22 and 6ft 7( and ĥas been since his teens) he buys loads of stuff from H&M. Clothes are good quality, wash well, are a decent price and they do a good student discount too.

AnnPerkins · 04/06/2024 12:55

DS is 6'4". He wears 30 x 36 slim straight jeans from Hollister. They fit well and look really nice.

He has bought some cargos from Next and H&M that fit OK, the Long are just about long enough.
