Any leg amputees around - I have a question

Just seen the Sure ad for their heat activated deoderant with the woman running up the stairs.

She's wearing a sports/running blade but has a shoe on it. Is that normal? The only other times I've seen people running with blades they've not got a shoe on it. There was also a campaign I saw about getting Nike to sell single shoes to amputees.

Is this Sure making an attempt at representation but missing the mark or is it something you would actually do?

Some running blades you can put a shoe on with, most you can't

If this is a real amputee in the advert (I've not seen it so I assume it's real and not a cartoon?) then they can't possibly have forced a shoe on over a running blade and got the person to run up stairs in it, it wouldn't work like that, it will have to be that person's standard set up

I should say I'm not an amputee but lived with one for many years

I've just tried looking for the ad online and can't find it. Any chance you could link it?

Not all metal protheses are running blades. My guess is that this prosthesis may not be a running blade, rather one that is uncompromisingly metal, ie not one that's made to look like a leg (IYSWIM)

(Not an amputee, basing this on a former job role)

I would imagine not unless the blade is specifically designed with the shoe in mind. Otherwise one leg will be longer than the other and that would cause a huge amount of issues.

I can't find the ad online, really frustrating!

Some you can fit a shoe on, some you don't. They're made individually so they can choose.
