Gas smell but no leak?

Worked from home today, used my en suite bathroom (apartment) and all fine
Finished work, opened the en suite door and got an instant sort of wall of gas smell

Collared my neighbour who said "fuck yes gas" and I rang the gas company
They've been out, can't find anything and he said he couldn't smell it but it's overpowering to me
The gas meter is on the wall right outside the en suite but no leaks found, everything checked

I'm worrying still. The smell went a bit with the door open, but I've closed it and it's so strong again
Any ideas?

Any rotting fruit? Years ago at work we smelt gas. We called specialists out and they found nothing but we could all smell it. I got on my hands and knees and it turned out to be rotting fruit in a drawer for my colleague who was on holiday. I think it was a couple of oranges.

Nope, smell is only in the en-suite bathroom, and if you stand outside next to the external wall of the bathroom where the meter is
Sniffed the shower tray and sink and it's definitely worse near the toilet - that's where there's a gap to the outside wall with gas meter/pipes

Neighbour recoiled when he opened the bathroom door and said he can't usually smell gas well but he could smell that

Rest of the house as the gas man put it "smells of nice perfume in here"

No way the exact same thing has happened to us today. The smell was so strong, but apparently no leak. The smell has gone now, not a clue what it was!

Oh that's weird! They checked everywhere with the wand thing and nothing
3 other apartments and they checked around the doors but they're all empty so couldn't check in there
