Wind them up and watch them go threads

Is it me?
There seems to be a lot of threads lately which are 'outrageous', and attract a lot of attention. Then the OP vanishes.
Then there are also a lot of downright stupid, goady answers, which cannot possibly be serious.
Torn between wanting to support someone in distress, and feeling that I am being had.
I'm quite new to Mumsnet - is it a thing?

I've reported a few of these, recently. The best thing to do if you are concerned about a thread is report it. They're usually pretty good at taking a thread down, if it turns out the OP has history.

The one about the grandmother slapping her GS certainly was one.
