If a save the date has been sent, when would you expect the wedding invitation to be sent?

8 weeks or so, depends if you need menu choices and when they are needed

2-3 months before. Honestly, if the save the date has been sent, people should have 'saved' the date. They likely will already have information on where the wedding will be held and any travel details. The invitation is a formality and mostly to confirm what people are eating if doing a sit down meal. I think we sent ours about 3 months before because it would have required just about everyone to book overnight accommodation because we live quite rurally and far from everyone, including quite a few people who were travelling from abroad. Obviously, they already knew where the wedding was and that they would need to think about their travel, but it was the final reminder to sort it.

A couple of months, ours was small so the word got around on the details and people knew the date anyway

Comedycook · 03/06/2024 12:46

About three months unless it was a destination wedding in which case I think a minimum of 9 months.

Hopingtobe4 · 03/06/2024 12:46

If local 8-12 weeks.. if requires flights etc be good to know that info in advance, although probably on the save the date?

thaisweetchill · 03/06/2024 12:53

Depends where and when it is? We get married August 2025 2 hours away from where we live so I'll be sending mine 10 months before, also because it's the school holidays.

CrushingOnRubies · 03/06/2024 12:57

12 weeks unless it's a destination wedding. Or if there's a lot of people who are travelling. Went to a wedding where bride was from south west England and he was from Northern Ireland and the wedding was south east where the couple lived so lots of people invited had to travel a fair distance

Anywhere from 2-6 months. 3-4 months is most normal I think. No matter how much notice you give people they usually wait until the RSVP deadline to book trains and accommodation anyway!
