Getting into a roasting hot bath is the best

Does anyone else just love the initial feeling if the heat when getting in the bath, it's like it melts over your body

Yes, there is nothing better than a hot bath.

Thevelvelletes · 02/06/2024 19:20

I'm opposite, tepid water... love it.

FizzyStream · 02/06/2024 19:20

Oh yes. I'm in mine now! My DH and DSs think my ability to withstand the heat is some sort of superpower and they're a bit in awe of my boiling baths Grin

FizzyStream · 02/06/2024 19:21

It has to be almost too hot to get in. Any cooler and by the time you're fully in it's too cold!

Saintmariesleuth · 02/06/2024 19:24

I love a toasty hot bath too OP. Might have one later this evening now you've mentioned it..

AtomicBlondeRose · 02/06/2024 19:25

I love it - was in a hotel this week and the best thing is being able to run a boiling hot bath about ten times faster than you can at home.

EasilyDefined · 02/06/2024 19:26

It's ok while I'm in but it makes me feels so awful afterwards that I very rarely have one. Exhausted, sick, completely drained.

Exactly this. Almost unbearable to start and then turns to utter bliss.

duchessofsilk · 02/06/2024 19:26

I am in awe and dont know how you do it. I find it horrible. It feels like getting into a lobster pot to be boiled alive.

You have to dip body parts in until it becomes bearable, then you plunge in and gasp because its scalding, then you sit there stunned for a minute whilst your entire body turns fire engine red, then you have to breathe like you're giving birth whilst chanting "it'll be cooler in a minute" and wrestling with the cold tap, then finally by the time its bearable- that "perfect" temperature lasts for a full 78 seconds and then its too fcking cold and you have to get out.

I thought it was just me who got like that - every so often I'll get out and be like "oops, that one was too hot..." and then feel awful for a bit.

unlikelychump · 02/06/2024 19:32

Meeee. Just got out now relaxing very happily.

PMPBlue · 02/06/2024 19:36

Yes. If I don't go maroon on entry, it's not hot enough.

The worst is when it feels a bit too hot when you put your feet in, so you run the cold tap for 20-30 seconds. Then realise you were too hasty, it WAS just right initially and now it's too fecking cold 😠

LemonySnickets · 02/06/2024 19:47

Love a scalding hot bath! I can be in there a good 20 minutes before OH joins me....he has to add cold before he gets in as he finds it too hot for him!

landhill · 03/06/2024 19:09

I did not expect many people to feel the same way. So many people prefer a shower these days. I've been had it said that having a bath is dirty as you are sitting in your own dirt!

I love a bath and I have one every day, so I'm not sitting in my own dirt (or 'wallowing in my own filth' as someone described it once). I do have a little bit of a wonder about the personal hygiene of people who think that. Perhaps they're projecting a bit.

ColinRobinsonsFart · 03/06/2024 19:18

Add Epsom salts

You will sleep like a baby!

Curlygirl06 · 03/06/2024 20:20

I get out of a bath when it's the temperature most people get in! Hotter the better, paper, radio, cup of tea, marvellous.

This.

I begin topping up with hot almost immediately!

MalibuBarbieDreamHouse · 03/06/2024 20:27

Adore hot baths, currently too pregnant for them and miss that feeling.

EricHebbornInItaly · 03/06/2024 20:30

Love a boiling hot bath. Book, icy cold drink and DH bringing kettles of hot water to top up. Bliss

TheRealKatnissEverdeen · 03/06/2024 20:38

I've got a rough stomach and have been sitting the past few hours contemplating finding the energy to run (or should it be draw?) a bath.
This thread has given me the impetus I needed.
I get into it half full and very warm and then fill it with hot water. Some Epsom.salts and eucalyptus oil and I'm happy.

CJ0374 · 03/06/2024 20:39

I can't stand it boiling hot! I dip a toe in but if its too hot, I feel faint and think of those people that have catastrophic venous dilation then collapse and drown in the bath. I normally shower!
I worked in A&E many years ago and can't unsee a woman who fell into a hot bath and was lobster red, skin sliding off and horrific.

Deathraystare · 04/06/2024 19:19

Nope! Not for me! I cannot stand too much heat! I had a boiling hot shower this morning. Well, actually I didn't. I stood well away from the water and just splashed a bit on me. The soles of my feet hate excess heat. I gave up even considering a hair wash this morning so hope when I get home the water is cooler! I think a too hot bath would not be beneficial to me anyway even if I could stand it. I have heart problems and raised (very) BP.
