Before I start, I just want to say that I am well aware that interfering with nesting birds is illegal and I have no intention of doing so
I've got jackdaws nesting in the eaves of my roof. More to the point I have jackdaws nesting in the eaves of my roof that's right above my head. They're making a right racket and it's keeping me awake at night. I'm absolutely certain that it's jackdaws as I have been in the garden this afternoon and have watched them come and go. My house is less than 20 years old so the roof is sound.
I have no intention of disturbing nesting birds, but how can I make sure that once they're gone, they stay gone? Apparently nailing a dead jackdaw to the fence scares off the live ones. I think my neighbours might object to that though.
