Teething pain - what am I missing?

DD is 16 months and her teeth have been v slow to come in. 4 by 11 months and then nothing until recently when she has (by my count) got 6 at various stages of “through”. She is absolutely beside herself at bedtime, and has been for over 3 weeks now.

We’ve done baby paracetamol and nurofen (huge, hideous battle), teething powders, teethers in the fridge…teething gels are no good because she won’t let us near her gums. She’s currently sitting up with us gnawing on cucumber from the fridge so it’s nice and cold.

Please tell me there is something amazing that I am missing. It’s horrid seeing her so upset, and we’re both exhausted!

I used to put teething gel on a toothbrush and let him chew away so it went all over the sore bits! He also really liked a frozen wet cloth to chew on!

Frozen cloth is a good idea! Thanks!

The toothbrush is just as big a battle at the moment - she just doesn’t want anything near her mouth.
