Company have sent the WRONG order

Does anyone know how this has happened?

I ordered a pair of children's pjs. A woman's top has been delivered.

Will I now have to go to the trouble of returning it and having to pay for postage?

I've never had this issue before. I be had incidents in the past when I parcel didn't arrive. But this has and with the wrong details!

Weirdly, I only got an email last night to say it was being shipped. And I didn't pay for priority postage etc, just 2nd class

What is likely to happen? I am really quite upset

Sorry, to clarify, I mean how did this happen because I thought a robot packs the stuff

Is it still people doing this or is it generated and packed automatically by robots?

Contact them and ask for a prepaid returns label which you can print off and send it back.

I don't have a printer and live rurally, so it really is quite a pain!

If it's Evri they choose, I do have an Evri print shop nearby.

The item was sent via Royal Mail. I've had loads from them before and all sent via Royal Mail

Ask them to send a royal mail label and you can arrange for a royal mail collection rather than needing to take it in somewhere. It is annoying when this happens though.

Which company is it?

MonsteraMama · 01/06/2024 13:57

Ask them? They'll be able to tell you what happened far better than any internet strangers.

But no, we're not quite at the stage where robots are picking and packing our stuff, warehouses are still mostly staffed by humans who are mostly very overworked, and it's not out of the realm of possibility that the wrong label has been stuck on something - some other person has likely received the PJ's.

Bit OTT to be so upset about it, it's just a mistake, they happen. They'll probably send you a prepaid return label rather than expecting you to pay, most business that operate online will do this. Or they might just send out the correct item and count the top as a loss. But you'll have to ask them.

Apparently I don't have to ask them. Since it was addressed to me with my name on it

I will though, since I'm not slim enough for the top so no use for it sadly!

Oh they're a decent company at least. Just do a quick online chat with them and I'm sure they'll sort it out and send you the pjs!

It’s just a mistake, contact the company let them know you need to return/replace. Royal Mail offer a service where they bring the label to you and collect the item from you, see if they can offer that.

Thank you, I wasn't aware they collected parcels! That's handy

Just ring them and explain what has happened. They will re-send the original item you ordered and will either tell you to keep the erroneous item or send you a label to ship it back
This sort of thing happens from time to time.

Pasadenadreaming · 01/06/2024 14:04

Worst time it happened to me was when I'd ordered a birthday present for a kid's party, hadn't actually bothered to check it when it arrived, opened it up before the party to wrap and realised it was some random chinese post its instead of the craft kit I'd ordered. They refunded and told us to keep the post its which DD was thrilled about! Had to rush out and get a last minute gift for the party though.

I've just had to do this. It was our usual postie and he knocked the door the next day with the sticker in his hand. Great service.
