Hand sanitizer in my eye!!!!

I was in Next and thought I would use the hand sanitiser on the till near the checkout. It was just a normal soap type bottle. The trigger must have been faulty and it spurted straight into my eye. No idea how it even happened.

I’m shopping so I’ve tried as best I can to rinse it with water in the toilets. It’s stinging a bit.

I know this might sound a stupid question but I’m worried it could cause sight damage. I’m also worried for my baby as I’m pregnant and don’t know if it could affect her

Can anyone advise? If you think I’m being totally ridiculous please try and be kind as I am hormonal, and worried.

Into the public loos ASAP and wash your eyes with cold water. Or have you got a bottle of water with you???

Just tip water softly and gently in your eyes and dilute the hand sanitiser.

I accidently squirted Chanel eau de toilette in my eyes last year and was squealing with pain. (Bottle was facing the opposite way I thought it was!) I bathed my eyes with cool tap water, and was fine. Eyes stung for a few hours, but all was OK.

It won't affect your baby. Smile Water (cool) in your eyes QUICK AS POSSIBLE! Rinse and dilute the stuff!!!

Loos too far away, ask someone in NEXT if you can use their bathroom/loo as it's an emergency. Tell them what's happened.

You’ll be fine. Your baby certainly will. You managed to navigate to MN and create a thread with no spelling mistakes so it can’t be too horrific 😄 Painful though!

Edited

They are a ten min walk away so I went as fast as I could. My vision seems fine so far but I’m honestly mainly worried about my baby… and my sight!

Also mums drink all the way through pregnancy and their babies turn out fine. Honestly they’ll be fine. I had similar anxiety in my pregnancies so I understand. But it will really not affect your baby.

Thank you that’s so true. I don’t know if there was anything else in it like other chemicals aside from the alcohol, but purely my eye would have been watering like mad and be red or swollen, which it hasn’t been
