Grey, overcast, spitting, windy, heating is on. Depressed

I'm in Yorkshire. The next few days are around 18/19 degree, sunny and dry. That'll do me. Will get lots of washing and gardening done.

S0livagant · 01/06/2024 11:05

It's 15 and forecast is max 18 here. Very typical for the date. Our bedroom windows are wide open, kitchen window open, back door open. I'm wearing a hoodie but I'm barefoot. Boys are in t-shirts.

CharlotteStreetW1 · 01/06/2024 11:06

Just south of London. 14 degrees "feels like 12". Mix of blue sky but lots of clouds and that bleedin' wind. Our garden is fairly sheltered so I'm having a cup of tea outside but I can feel the wind round my neck. Hoping for better tomorrow especially as there's a big outdoor event in town.

xxSideshowAuntSallyxx · 01/06/2024 11:06

It's grey and cloudy in the South East, and windy. I put the washing outside so hopefully it will get blown dry. Still bloody cold though.

My thermostat says the house is only 18.5c, outside says its something like 14c I'm half expecting the heating to come on.

SkeletonBatsflyatnight · 01/06/2024 11:08

Beautiful sunny day in NE Scotland, just had a cup of tea in my inlaws garden.

zingally · 01/06/2024 11:10

15C here in Northamptonshire. But was only 12C when I ventured out to do the food shop at 8am.
Dull and overcast as well. It's been a pretty rainy and dull half term! Windy as well the last couple of days.
But local BBC radio seem to think it's going to get a bit brighter next week. We'll see.

Happyinheels · 01/06/2024 11:14

North East, 9 degrees here, completely grey and overcast and windy 🌬️ 😭

Jellycatspyjamas · 01/06/2024 11:16

I’m sitting in the garden with a cup of tea, 18 degrees and glorious sunshine.

DancelikeFredAstaire · 01/06/2024 11:39

North Somerset is a bit breezy but sunny. For the 1st time in 2 weeks I have washing on the line instead of trying to get it to dry indoors (no room for a tumble dryer or heated dryer). I'm hoping it's the start of a long, hot summer but I won't hold my breath.

West Midlands and it's a beautiful sunny day here today. I have a load of washing to put out and another lot to go in the machine. Looking forward to mowing the lawn later today.

Spoke too soon - sun's gone behind the clouds and the bloody washing line has broken!!! Teach me to be smug...

BakewellGin1 · 01/06/2024 11:51

For a change. Sun is out here in North East. A bit blowy but hey ho my washing will dry and we have made it to a local country park.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 01/06/2024 11:57

Winter duvet on last night and the heating came on this morning. I'm no fan of very hot weather - 25c is my optimum - but the chance to actually wear some lighter clothes rather than the stuff I've been wearing all winter would be appreciated.

I envy hardy people! It's 14 degrees here, overcast, cold damp breeze, it was colder yesterday and my washing was still damp when I brought it in. We're freezing, lit a fire yesterday, although I refuse to put the heating back on.

Should've said - SW London. Grey and breezy.

TribeofFfive · 01/06/2024 11:59

Dry and blue skies here in South Yorkshire! I’ve got the washing out and the DC are playing in the garden.

MonsteraMama · 01/06/2024 12:01

Pleasantly warm and breezy in my little patch of Wales, a relief because I have seventy billion loads of laundry to do this weekend. Can't believe some people have had the heating on, how absolutely shite!

IAlwaysTellTheTruthEvenWhenILie · 01/06/2024 12:10

I'm in the south of Germany. As a Scot, I'm usually walking around in shorts on June 1 to around 24/25 degrees.

Today's it's 12 degrees and been nonstop raining since Thursday... We have severe weather warnings in place due to persistent heavy rain and flood warnings. Told DH this morning it feels like November when you know December and Christmas is approaching...

perimumma · 01/06/2024 12:14

South of the uk here and it's glorious! All the window are open, bedding and towels on the line. Good times!

Funnily enough OP I'm in NZ and it's the first day of winter here and it's been, if not quite like a summer's day, certainly a late spring one at 21 degrees.

Edited

I was just about to say similar - first day of winter in Australia, but colder than you're having, it only reached 14C where I am today. Nice and sunny though.

ZipZapZoom · 01/06/2024 12:30

14 degrees here currently with lots of clouds and wind, I concur it feels very cold. Obviously some of those who live nearby also agree because this morning whilst doing the shopping I saw three separate people wearing Christmas jumpers!

Pollou · 01/06/2024 12:31

Lovely day here, north Scotland, not much wind, sunny and 15c. It’s a shorts day for me.

14 is quite different to 18 though. We aren't particularly hardy, we are dressed similarly to others when out and about, and the heating is on through the winter.

ChangeAgain2 · 01/06/2024 12:31

I'm wearing several layers. Alsonhad the heating on. Unbelievable.

DaffydownClock · 01/06/2024 12:35

It was lovely and warm here in south Gloucestershire until about an hour ago, now it’s decidedly chilly so I have retreated indoors for a hot drink.
i did get two loads of washing out and have been gardening so it was nice while it lasted!
DH is out walking the dog, he won’t mind it being cooler neither will pooch.
Hoping it warms up again this afternoon 🤞🏻

Same here in SA. First day of winter and it's 24 degrees right now. It's been hot all through May too. No winter gear out here yet.

But we are in for it next week though I believe.

The weather is all sorts of crazy now.
