I've been summoned for service early July.
I can sort childcare with family that's no issue as they do anyway.
However i work Mon to Fri 9 until 4.30pm

If I for example did 4 days and on the Friday not needed do I then work? Am I allowed so I don't lose pay.
Then back to duty the following week? How does it work.

I did jury service in November 2022

If you don't get picked for a case you may be sent home anyway or told you're not required. In which case you could go back to work.

Some people are kept as 'extras' but this is quite boring so take plenty to do.

If you're on a case, chances are you'll go into court around 10 and finish around 3ish so probably not much time for work

Does your work cover jury service? It may be worth checking with your HR department.

But in short if you're not needed by the court then yes you can return to work. Just bear in mind that if they call you, you'd have to go back to court.

I know a lot of people hate doing it, but I found it a really interesting experience. I did get picked for a case though

I’m nhs….got paid for the full 2 weeks same as normal….finished early some days….one week only did 4 days….work said if you asked to do 2 weeks then we pay your normal wages for 2 weeks regardless of what you are called to do

Thank you. That's very helpful. I won't get paid as I work for a small business and they'll have to cover my hours and can't pay 2 of us which is fine no HR dept.
