School trip horror stories

Both day trips and residential trips. Share yours here

Whitby aged 10. Friendship groups didn’t fit with the room plans.

Had to share a room with the girl with no friends. Hated it. She snored badly. My friends who had a room for 3 had 4 beds. I asked why I couldn’t sleep in the last bed. Can’t remember what BS excuse headteacher made. I did sneak in and slept in the room. Set my alarm clock 15-20 mins before we got knocked on the door by the teacher to wake up. Crawled into bed in the room where no friends girl slept in. I got away with this as the room where my friends were in was at the far end of the corridor, furthest away from the teacher’s.

Geography residential A-level in Swanage. The hotel’s packed lunches were minute! Asked for a ham sandwich and it was one slice of bread with one slice of wafer thin ham and a 200ml juice box. You wouldn’t give that small amount to a 5 year old, let alone 16-17 years olds walking 5-6 miles a day. Most of the money we took was spent on food! Then the showers. Two students had warm showers and the rest had cold!

The coach got lost and crashed through a fence. Luckily no one was injured.

I bet the girl who had to sleep on her own had a worse time on the trip than you did.

Skiing trip to Italy in the 80's, someone puked out of the window in the first coach and it splattered all over the second coach......🤢🤢😂😂 I fell off the button lift and slid halfway down the mountain

Quite.

Thread is a bit distasteful given a child died recently on a school trip

I forgot to take all my socks and knickers on a 5 day field trip.
A package arrived at the hostel and was given to me in the food hall at breakfast.
I opened it and all my undies were there for everyone to see 😱

Thanks Mum

Teachers got pissed on a boat and a child (year 6) ended up locked out above board all night and slept in a cleaning cupboard.

Not a school trip, but on a guide camp, one of the guides wasn't being massively naughty, just not paying attention or talking...the guide leader smacked her one!

The leader wrote her/her mum a letter after it happened, it was a while ago but I'm sure she had lost her husband and was under a lot of stress. Nobody crossed her after that. Probably wouldn't be allowed to carry on these days!

I remember stories about school kids dying on school trips when I was at school. Such as the children on a minibus coming back from London in the early 90s.

Then teens drowned whilst canoeing

Between 1985 and 2003, 57 school children died on school trips including the trip to/from destination

Gosh this thread is poor timing and what a title.

I skeed ( ski ) backwards by accident down Rossindale dry ski slope...... forgot my gloves and had to hold onto a rope that was dragging everyone up the slope my hands were red raw.

I was the only one who did this.

All I could hear was raucous laughter and I did think it was funny at the time, I was 15 years old.

This!
And also agree, very poor taste.
