Crap foods from your childhood you still eat now.

After food shopping and a tough day at work, I couldn't be arsed to cook myself anything. DH had already fed himself and DC, and I didn't want what they were having.

So I've made myself a bowl of left over rice, lots of sugar and milk, heated it the microwave while I unpacked the shopping. Used to love this from my childhood, mock rice pudding. Yum!

Grilled dairy lea on toast but you have to wait till the dairy lea cools down in order to prevent the roof of your mouth suffering 3rd degree burns 🤣

@Truffle55
It was me. They are exactly the same still.

Golden syrup sandwiches. White bread, lots of real butter. Only when I really need a pick me up but it always works.

MonsteraMama · 31/05/2024 23:09

A potato waffle with a slice of cheese and a fried egg on top. One of my small guilty pleasure struggle dinners.

Actually bought some Farleys Rusks a while ago.

Bitterly disappointed - not how i remember them at all. 😭

DH said this 😂 He was gutted when he ate one of DD’s. Apparently he remembers eating his sisters’ Farleys rusks and they tasted completely different.

Coco pops with double cream. Or crunchy nut cornflakes with double cream. In fact, most foods are improved by the addition of either cheese, lashings of butter or double cream.

CandiedPrincess · 31/05/2024 23:16

Findus Crispy Pancakes.

Heinz Sandwich Spread.

Angel delight, banana sandwiches

Bloody love a banana sandwich! I have them weekly

di2004 · 31/05/2024 23:32

Vesta chow mein with crispy noodles. Yummy :)

FieldsOfFlours · 31/05/2024 23:32

Belly pork, chips and a fried egg. So bad for me but so so so good

mondaytosunday · 31/05/2024 23:35

I wouldn't call Bovril or banana on toast 'crap'! Nor egg and soldiers - sounds like a healthy start to the day!
They're not the same since the company was sold, but I love Hostess cupcakes (same people who make Twinkies which I think people here are more familiar with).
Betty Crocker brownies are the best.
When I go back to the States I always buy Lucky Charms and Captain Crunch cereal. And of course raw chocolate chip cookie dough! It's a basic food group for uni students there (along with pizza and beer). In fact they've taken to labelling the package 'safe to eat raw'.

Spam sandwich on white bread with butter.

ferryboatscrubcaps · 01/06/2024 04:15

Fish fingers pasta and vinegar
Bacon pasta and brown sauce

Very occasionally a chicken and mushroom pot noodle 🤦‍♀️

ferryboatscrubcaps · 01/06/2024 04:15

Oh and Smokey bacon crisp sandwich and ketchup

Agreed ! I suspect the sugar has been reduced

minerva7 · 01/06/2024 04:19

Cheesy pasta from a box. Mmmmm 😋

Egg in a cup, mashed with butter, with soldiers.

And this.... sans the soldiers

Garlicker · 01/06/2024 05:15

Right now, I'm eating some very salty pork crackling. I haven't taken this much trouble over it since the early 80s - gave the joint a half-hour blast at max heat to get the crackle, peeled off the fat and dried it, pan-fried it to melt off the remaining fat, dried it again. It's a heart attack on a plate but so enjoyable!

Some time during the pandemic, I revived jam sandwiches and now can't give them up.

Also fried bread and eggy bread.

SplendidUtterly · 01/06/2024 05:29

You evil people. I now can't decide between ravioli, crisp sandwich or some kind if paste in toast today😁

Garlicker · 01/06/2024 05:36

@SplendidUtterly - Smash the ravioli into a paste, spread it on toast and cover with crisps 😋

C1N1C · 01/06/2024 06:11

I still get giddy over a Kinder egg, even though they're a huge waste of money and the toys are no longer lethal, just lumps of plastic.

Mrsjayy · 01/06/2024 06:19

BCBird · 31/05/2024 22:52

Corned beef and brown.sauce sandwiches

Oh I used to love this but on toast. I've not had it in years.

Mine is fish fingers chips and peas.

CurlewKate · 01/06/2024 06:32

I longed for crap food when I was a child. My mother was an everything from scratch home made wholemeal bread type of mum. I love a sliced white bread, butter and cheap jam sandwich-but I still silently apologise to her and she's been dead 15 years!
