Family car (not £££) to share between a couple who are quite short and quite tall?

We are looking to buy a car for DH who is 6'4" and drives around and through London for work fairly often, and me who is 5'2" and drives mainly locally with some occasional longer journeys. When we go anywhere togethe, I always drive (better driver ).

Obviously the problem is that we can't have a tiny car which I would be happy with. But I find our current car, a big old estate, horrible to park. We both find it very low to the road too, we'd both like to sit higher up. We were happy with our car before last, a Vauxhall Zafira, but want something a tad more modern and compact that is still comfortable for him to drive. We also need a decent boot and I hate tiny rear windows.

Any ideas??

How about skoda octavia? Plenty of boot room, family friendly dky car doors open extra wide. Lots of leg room for everyone.

Easy to park especially with sensors, easy to maintain and not too expensive side on parts.

I don't think your heights will be a particular issue tbh. I'm your height and DH is 6'2" and we've had no issues with a Ford Focus, Fiesta and Puma, Vauxhall Astra, Nissan Qashqai, Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sportage. We had a Citroen people carrier courtesy car once that bizarrely didn't need the seat moved when we swapped over - still don't understand that one.

The Tucson and Sportage are probably a good size for you to be looking at based on your other requirements, but I'm nowhere near London so don't know how the emissions charges etc work.

If your DH has particularly long legs he might need to be a bit careful as he's that extra bit above average, but it'll be grand.

We are pretty much the same- I’m 5’1, husband is 6’3.

The best car we have owned that suited us both, plenty of legroom/ moveable steering column/ electric seats was a vw golf. Great to drive and easy to park.

currently have a jaguar xe which ticks all of the above but is longer and wider so isn’t as easy to park.
