I'm so sorry to post this, I'm not a poo troll.

I've just been laughing at this for 10 minutes.

I’ve potty trained two children and I’m fairly sure the usual approach for an accident is to head to a nearby toilet to clean up. Not whack out a potty in the middle of a store aisle and start scooping up poo/ pout about their learning journey.

Toddlerteaplease · 30/05/2024 19:23

She spends £100-200 on very visit? What on?!! Missing point of thread. She should have taken him to the toilets.

GreenWheat · 30/05/2024 19:24

This sort of thing pisses me right off. When I potty trained my DC, we didn't really go anywhere for the first week. Yes it's inconvenient but, that's on me and my child. And then, as PP have said, you should go to a toilet to clean up in the event of an accident. It's not OK to wipe your toddler's shitty backside in the middle of a shop floor.

EnglishBluebell · 30/05/2024 19:25

Are there toilets in Primark? There isn't in ours. She definitely shouldn't have done that though, my god. Civilisation has gone.....

This, Imagine thinking letting a kid shit in a shop !

Sunnysummer24 · 30/05/2024 19:28

Surely the first thing you do when a child has a toileting accident is take them to the toilet! And some where better to clean than up than superdrug and primark.

ThereIsATInWater · 30/05/2024 19:29

Don't worry, the mother believes potty training takes 20-30 months and is a social thing to be taught.
Not developmental or muscle control. Oh no.

She's read loads of books and knows better than everyone else!

Mrsjayy · 30/05/2024 19:29

She really needs to put Barnaby in pull ups if he can't wait to get to a toilet.

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 30/05/2024 19:30

Missing the point but how do you manage to spend £200 in Primark!!!

Justcallmebebes · 30/05/2024 19:30

I'm with the Primark staff member on this one. I've potty trained several kids and never have they had a crap in the middle of a store

I think you should change your user name to your post title 😂

ditalini · 30/05/2024 19:45

Oh dear, poor Barnaby. The internet is forever 🫣

poosadface · 30/05/2024 19:49

NCd as requested.

Really though, take your child for a poo in an actual toilet, or pull ups if you're not confident.

SonicTheHodgeheg · 30/05/2024 19:50

One day an employer/classmate/romantic partner is going to google him and find this story. She should have thought more carefully before selling this story.

meganorks · 30/05/2024 19:54

Who the hell takes a toddler who is only days into potty training on feckin shopping trip?! Of course staff aren't happy with them shitting themselves in the middle of the store. And Whipping out a potty very much makes it look like that was your plan all along. 'Don't worry everyone, he can take a dump wherever he likes - I have a port-a-potty!' WTF?!

WhatNoRaisins · 30/05/2024 19:55

I get that sometimes shit happens with toddlers but you'd take them to a toilet wouldn't you? A normal person doesn't just strip them off and clean up shit in a clothes shop.

Antsinmypantsneedtodance · 30/05/2024 20:05

My DD had a poo accident in primark last week. Damn, could have made some money from that.

However, I, like any normal human took her to the nearest toilet to get sorted. The staff were actually really helpful as i left my basket with a woman stacking the shelves while I went and left the shop to find a toilet. Couldn't have been kinder and more understanding.

Also she said she used wipes and put it all in the carry potty...is she one of those awful people who puts wipes down the toilet?!

What a very strange woman! She was right to feel embarassed and ashamed.

PurpleBugz · 30/05/2024 20:24

Depending which primark if it's the one in the shopping centre there are some absolutely amazing parent and child toilets very close. She should have taken her child there to clean up not ok on a shop floor. Not only gross but what about the poor child's dignity?

I was ready to copy/paste but you got there first

MrsSkylerWhite · 30/05/2024 20:28

Yep, we mostly stayed home. Took a couple of weeks in summer, pants off 😁

It wouldn’t bother me in the least but I can appreciate some people wouldn’t like it.

There are in the Birmingham one, I've been in them 😆

With a name like Barnaby he's got a lot more to worry about 😆

Toddlerteaplease · 30/05/2024 20:43

@meganorks and to meet a friend for coffee. Recipe for disaster!

ssd · 30/05/2024 20:48

Jesus this story will follow him for a long time, poor wee bugger

TurtleMoon · 30/05/2024 20:55

Definitely you either stay in for several days to potty train (the worst thing about it IMO) or you put a nappy on to go out. Worst case scenario you discreetly pop the child on the potty. If they have an accident you take them to the toilets and clean them up.

My son wet himself in the self-checkout area of a major supermarket aged 4 (someone had given him squash🙈). My priorities were to reassure him, clean up the puddle on the floor and take him to the toilet to get changed, in that order. The staff couldn't have been nicer about it. Had he done a poo in his pants, I'd have taken him straight to the toilets to get him changed. You don't just whip the kid's clothes off and start dealing with sh*t in the middle of a shop, that's disgusting!!! Also sounds like the kid in question is very early stages potty training if there more misses than hits. Deffo can't take them out for that!
