DS, 10 is a right pain in the arse at times to put it bluntly. He’s gradually losing friends, they no longer want to invite him places. Even families we used to meet altogether I can see are getting fed up of him and withdrawing from meeting us.
He is just so silly, showing off or trying to, loud, obnoxious, never accepts he’s ever done anything wrong. He’d literally punch his brother in front of you and then claim he didn’t do anything. I’ve tried to help him see this, explain it’s good to own up to actions, accept responsibility, I remind him to calm down and try to be less silly but none of it works. He just doesn’t change and the only time it bothers him is if then doesn’t get something he wants - sweets, slushy, iPad and then he wails like a baby and goes on and on about it trying to get you to give in.
i just don’t know what to do. Stop arranging things to prevent him annoying and embarrassing everyone? Will he learn in his own time how to act? Do I have to try and persevere telling him to the detriment of his self esteem and our relationship? Will he have already alienated everyone by then? It’s affecting my friendships too and the rest of the family’s.
When he’s one on one he’s lovely for the most part. Please help me with this!
