Has anyone dyed yellow gingham?

Hi,
I’ve been given a lovely mustard and white gingham cotton dress. I love the shake and am very happy with the gingham.

But, I can’t wear yellow, I look like a jaundiced corpse and would like to dye the dress a different colour.

Can anyone share any insights? I’d like black, grey, blue or green I think.

thank you

Is it a natural fibre or part synthetic? Natural fibres dye much better. Often the thread is synthetic so will probably turn to a dirty yellow, maybe grey so the thread will stand out. I'd look dead in yellow too so maybe just give it a try but accept it may not work well.

If it’s 100% cotton it should dye well, look at dylon dyes you put through the washing machine.

Dont think i would dye gingham as the white bits will obviously not be white, i might experiment with a pale blue in the hope the yellow bits go darker and the white goes light blue, or some other clever option of colour mix which i might know if i had paid attention at school about what colours mix to make new colours 😁
