What is a ‘normal’ amount of pmt?

I’m almost 47 and I’m really struggling with pmt at the moment. I’ve always suffered (along with general anxiety) but these past few months have been unbearable. I’m already on antidepressants and have been for a long time.

For a few days before my period is due (which are usually 23-25 days apart) I’ve been a wreck. I’ve cried at work for the last 3 months. Not just weepy, but full on sobbing that I struggle to control.

I did go to my GP back in January to discuss the possibility of the peri menopause. She asked me several questions but didn’t think my mood struggles were related. She suggested cbt. I have done several courses in the past which have been helpful but…

Does that sound ‘normal’ to you?

Normal is neither here nor there, is it affecting your health and quality of life?

If yes, get researching the guidance for clinicians for both conditions. NICE for menopause and Royal College of Gynecologists for PMS.

Go to a different GP. Get HRT. Increase the dose until you feel better.

My main peri symptom was anxiety. When I started period tracking I realised it was worst shortly before my (unpredictable) periods.
