Hello, how much do you think it would cost to lengthen my curtains please, they are too short, I want to add to their length with some old curtains with the break hidden by ribbon. Thank you

Depends on size, material etc , I think you need to add more info

scrapsontheside · 29/05/2024 18:42

Also can depend on (roughly) where you are

Thanks they are normal curtains for one window, ie not French windows.

Could you be more vague?
Maybe you should just Google in your area, glad I tried to help

It might be easier to lengthen them from the top.
Rip off curtain tape, add panel on, reattach tape to new fabric. That way the original hem is not disturbed and, I think, will look better.

I have just altered 6 huge curtains that were too long and that was the way I was advised to do them.

Agree can you insert a band at the top or change to tab top?

OttersAreMySpiritAnimal · 30/05/2024 21:26

Buy a secondhand sewing machine on eBay. What you are describing is very easy to do, a total beginner could do it. You could even do it by hand (it's just slower).

It depends on the OP’s existing skill, inclination and time available though!

we need to know roughly how wide the window is. And what kind of material perhaps. A pic might be good?
