Someone using my address for Klarna - should I be worried?

Shortly before the local elections earlier this year we received a polling card for someone who had apparently registered to vote at our address. I sent it back marked ‘not known here’ and rang the electoral services dept at the council, who were pretty dismissive and basically said don’t worry. Now we’ve just had a letter addressed to the same person, and the PO Box on the back is associated with Klarna so it looks like he’s using our address for credit accounts. Do I need to be worried about this and what steps should we take if so? TIA.

Yes. You need to check your credit file and see who is registered at your address. Raise a query and get them taken off.

Pay for a CIFAS membership for two years also.

Also raise a query with credit reference agency and get Klarna to correct their mistake once this person is off your electoral file.

Check your BS as they may have got hold of your bank account too.

Get prepared you need to be organised and deal with this head on. Now! Everything can be done online within a couple of hours.

Get on to Electoral Services at your local council and update your entry. Someone has done something very fraudulent to register to vote at your address.

OK, thanks for the tips. I’ve just done the checkmyfile thing, and all my info there is correct and the only associations are with my husband. Also rang Klarna to report the letter so they’re going to flag it/investigate.

Will try Electoral Services again - they were very blasé previously and I’m sure they’re pretty busy at the moment but I am a bit worried.
