Pip assessors

What have people's experience been with pip assessors when having their assessments? Have they been nice or quite abrupt/efficient? Is one agency they use better than the other?

I'm attending one soon so wanted a heads up

It's worth knowing the criteria as per PP because it's about being able to carry out tasks repeatedly, reliably and safely. Assessors seem to sometimes have a gotcha thing if you can do something at all. But being able to do one thing in a day but nothing else is a problem. The criteria isn't that you can never do X ever.

My DM has chronic pain following a severe accident years ago. She can walk a short distance (you need to know the distance for PIP) with a stick, but not reliably or repeatedly and if she does so, she may need to rest for the remainder of the day. She can sit for short periods but this becomes painful very quickly so in waiting situations she has to stand and lean, then sit, then stand back up etc. So she can't just use a wheelchair as sitting upright can be worse than walking sometimes. They gave her 0 points at her review and agreed she can't walk far but that a wheelchair would solve it. Obviously it wouldn't as she can't sit for long. Mandatory reconsideration is no such thing they just rubber stamp the original decision as PP said. Took it to tribunal, waited 9 months. Morning of tribunal they phoned and said it should never have got this far, no only reinstating her benefit but increasing the mobility component, backdating it all for 9 months. But those 9 months were awful of course.

I go with her to her assessments and help her write to them when needed because I work in a public sector setting and know how important it is to fit your statements to the criteria. My DM would be more likely to appeal to the readers heart and it's wrong. You have to appeal to the processes.
