Interested in particular in the views of mums on this forum. What 3 "things" do you think are the most crucial to being a great mum?

By "things" I guess it could mean qualities the mum possesses or alternatively what the mum instils in her DC.

Ability to take deep breaths at the right time, ability to listen, knows when to take charge/ back off

Accepting that they can't try and be a great mum they just will be one

Being there for your child through thick and thin. Being the person they go to when they need help because they know you’ll not judge them, you’ll comfort them. If they need a telling off that can happen later but someone who’ll put their arms around their kids, even and especially when they mess up and say ‘I love you and I’m here for you’ but at the same time aren’t blinded by the fact it’s their child if the child does feck up.

Thanks. Increasingly I think the one about being the one they go to and trust is up there as being one of the most important.

Trying to instil this now with my 4yo boy in the hope he can come to me when he's a tween / teen and starts being exposed to all the risks the world (internet) has to offer. Would love to succeed in this one.
