University Support & Financial Settlement

(Posted in Legal, as well).

Name-changed as my ExH has previously read my posts on here.

My ExH and I are divorced but don't have a financial settlement yet (I know I need to get this sorted, but it's complicated ...).

My Children - including DD 17 - live more with him than with me so it is his income which is taken into account for University support. According to forms DD has seen, he earns over £62k but he has told her he won't give her the additional support that the system assumes he will. I am on £26k and, though obviously paying CMS, can't afford to meet all my own financial obligations.

Can I get this sorted as part of my financial settlement so he has to do it?

In similar circumstances I negotiated uni support as part of the financial settlement but we worked out how much it would be and took it off the assets if that makes sense.

I don't believe it is possible to compel a parent to pay the financial support that is assumed by the student finance process.
