Feeling ill and due to give birth

I'm 39+5 weeks so could go into labour at any moment. For the past 5 days I've had a sore throat and relentless cough, and I've barely slept. Then there's been the added fun of looking after toddler DD who has the same virus. I'm exhausted.

I'm so worried about 1) managing to give birth while in such a state, and 2) passing the illness on to a defenceless newborn

Has anybody been in a similar situation? I'm so stressed and can't stop crying.

I had a very bad chest infection while giving birth, worse thing ever. They kept me in for two weeks as they suspected blood clots on my lungs I could barely breathe.

So go see your gp and check it's not turned into a infection.

Aww poor you that's awful. I second getting in to see the GP.

I had a cold around my due date and only went into kabour 5 days later when I was better but that may have been luck I guess. But absolutely not unreasonable to talk to your GP and/or midwife (who might be able to get you to see the gp quicker perhaps?) as birth is physically demanding to say the least...
