Hi all,
It's a very long shot I know, but I was wondering if I can connect with parents who've had the same experience with their DC. I just don't know where to turn to and how can I help myself and DD.
So DD (6yo) had a totally typical development, early talker, very social, very bubbly, very happy, always settled amazingly in her nurseries/school and is doing well academically. Since she turned 5 a couple of little red flags started showing (hand flapping, asking to go to the toilet a lot at school, talking A LOT about her pet, very very chatty to her teachers at breaktime). Also overconfident with random strangers. She is in a mainstream school which she loves and is absolute perfection in terms of behaviour.
Recently her teachers have expressed their concern about her developing some anxiety at school and also said they think she's struggling with social nuances, is very literal and that they suspect ASD. I totally agree with them.
For the last year I spoke to NHS twice, went privately as well and they all said she's not meeting criteria for diagnosis as she's not struggling enough. And we should wait for another 2, 3 years.
Any parents with kids of similar age can relate to this? Feel pree to PM too.
