Hello!

I am trying to lose weight and I really need help with what food to eat. Usually my diet is very high in sugar which I know is bad and I’m trying to change it.

I am vegetarian and just need some inspiration for not only evening meals but breakfast, lunch, and snacks too that are low in sugar and actually filling but low in calories!

I think you can change your tastes, I used to have a terrible sweet tooth, now I enjoy salads, and snacks of carrot and cucumber. I am not saying the change over was easy, it took a about 18 months of fighting temptation, but currently downstairs is a cucumber, some celery, biscuits and chocolate and crisps. I feel no temptation at all to the biscuits, chocolate and crisps, I will enjoy the celery and cucumber

Make sure you do not eat anything low fat or with artificial sweeteners, - these are no better for you than sugar, and you gain weight with artificial just the same as with sugar. Also don't fall for that silly myth that somehow honey or fructose is a "better" sugar - it is worse!

Head over to the Low Carb High Fat threads. Loads of ideas and support, even if you don't want to go completely LCHF.

My favourite low carb snacks are hard boiled eggs (I'll often keep some ready in the fridge) and almonds.
