Ear infection - so painful

Somehow managed to get an appointment with the OOH GP this afternoon and came home with antibiotics - I've had mild ear pain for about a week (had flu and tonsillitis last week) but woke up in agony this morning with it.

Never had anything like it. I'm hoping the antibiotics will kick in shortly but in the meantime I'm alternating ibuprofen and paracetamol and using a wheat bag for the pain.

Please send solidarity and tips.

I feel your pain. I had this every year as a child until I was 12. I used to get some comfort from lying on my side with my ear on a hot water bottle covered by a towel ( in the days before fluffy covers). It’s been nearly 50 years but I still remember the pain - solidarity. X

I had my first ear infection a few months ago. Utter agony felt like someone once using a corkscrew inside my ear, hideous pain. The only thing that touched the pain was nurofen plus (the one with codeine) and the antibiotics kicked in after 2 days thankfully!...hope it passes for you soon.
