Is it normal for glasses to leave marks on nose or a sign the fit is off?

Got a pescription change to verifocals, I have chosen some plastic/black Ray Ban specs. I suppose they are quite modern and a bit thicker and heavier than my last pair. They leave pink marks on nose but don't hurt or feel tight. I was wondering if this is normal part of wearing specs? Or does it mean the fit is off?

I usually have a slight mark. Have you had the lenses thinned? This can make them lighter if they're feeling heavy.

Normal. I think especially if they are the all-in-one style rather than the moveable nose pads.

Mine do the same, I have an actual dent in my nose where they sit.
I try pushing them up but they slip down again, been back to Specsavers but they just adjust them then around we go again.
I wonder if it's because mine are from Specsavers but they weren't cheap.
I'm watching your thread for an answer 😉

They shouldn't slip down @itsgoingtobeabumpyride . Do they just adjust the nose pads? The arms/ear hooks probably need altering.

They shouldn't slip, though I suppose it can depend on the shape of your nose.

Mine were adjusted to fit in the shop (Boots) but I still get a bit of a mark on my nose.

Mine don't have nose pads they are just all in one plastic which is the new thing I think but they were really expensive too. When you google it, it says glasses should NOT leave any marks on nose but I wonder if it's impossible for glasses not to? I have thinnest lenses and I wondered if it's just part of the parcel of being a glasses wearer 🤓

I would think that weight of lenses, weight of frame, and shape of nose will all play their part in whether marks are left, however great the design. A particular frame can't sit the same on different people with a narrow or wide nose, bony or fleshy, straight or with a bump.

Maybe go back to the optician and ask them to check the fit. I always have a small mark on my nose from my glasses - have been wearing glasses since my teens and now I'm 50 - my personal feeling is that something can't be resting on your skin for hours without leaving some mark, and I never worry unless I'm actually sore or uncomfortable, in which case I go back for an adjustment.

The kind that rest directly on your nose can have the bridge made slightly wider or narrower by being heated, or it might be that they aren't tight enough behind the ears so too much of the burden is resting on your nose, in which case the angle of the ear rests will need heat adjusting. 10 minute job in the opticians, you shouldn't need an appointment.

Thanks so much for your advice yes will pop back and get them to check. xxx
