Can anyone name this British actor I'm trying to think of.

I'm sure his first name is James.
I thought he played in The thick of it but apparently not.
I'm guessing he'd be in his late 40s now.
When he was younger, about 20 years ago, he seemed to e everywhere. He had dark curlyish hair.

I think he played mainly supporting roles.
