When did you start to notice that you'd aged?

I'm turning 27 next week, which obviously I know is not old but I've just looked at myself in the mirror whilst I was doing my skin care and I'm already noticing more lines and creases! Especially around the eye area 😬

I'm dreading aging more and am starting to think about getting some Botox.

At what age did you start to notice?

I'm 36 and I've just started to notice in the past few months that I have fine lines under my eyes. I'm trying not to fixate!

honeyfox · 26/05/2024 23:53

I'm 46 and I'd say the last 2 or 3 years or so I've noticed a difference. Was ID'd for a long time, up till I was 30 or so, no longer!

KThnxBye · 26/05/2024 23:58

The last time I was IDed I was 38.

My biggest sign of ageing is probably the fuck off vibe you give out in your 40s. But I can’t see any wrinkles, I don’t think. No grey hairs. No jowls.

Don’t really care what I look like. Do care that my teeth are rubbish and my knees always hurt.

Around 46 to 52 I started ageing really quickly. For years I looked the same then bam I really started looking middle aged. I’m 53 now and I can’t believe what I see when I look in the mirror these days lol 😂

It’s actually quite shocking how fast the change happens. I hate looking in the mirror now. And I don’t know how to not look like a monster!

  1. Have always looked young for my age and slim but 45, perimenopause has kicked my butt, body shape has changed, putting on weight and finding it really hard to loose it.
CannotbebotheredNope · 27/05/2024 00:21

I am 60 and spent this evening watching BBC 1 big weekend ,love Coldplay but I find it is when complete strangers speak to me as if I am old ! Find people being really patronising, probably not intentionally but it is really unsettling.

2 years ago when my back went into a spasm in the middle of the night. I was limping the next day. In so much pain. MRI scan showed scoliosis and arthritis, also in hip. Now walking hurts I'm limping badly struggle up and down stairs. On Gabapentin, take ibuprofen before going to the supermarket etc. up till then I didn't think about it too much.

GivePeaceAChance · 27/05/2024 00:40

Im late 50s
I started going grey in my 20s, I’ve never dyed my hair so I’m now fully grey
I don’t have any wrinkles on my face, surprisingly, but I think that’s down to never sunbathing, factor 50 and lots of water fruit and veg
Im starting to get jowels though and I’ve noticed lines on my neck in the last year or two
My skin is definitely thinner, I notice it on my hands mainly as I can see veins more than before. That’s been happening probably since 50

YearsofYears · 27/05/2024 00:41

35 - 36 for me which seems young. My true apple shape seemed to pop out with a vengeance, in line with putting on weight if I eat a slice of bread. It feels like my peers still look great ( although a couple have started the botox/ ozempic route and look great but I'm not bothered) .

On the plus side my skin and hair are still good. And I'm kind of used to my changed shape now so just trying to be confident.

Op try L'Occitane Immortelle reset overnight serum. Makes quite a difference around the eyes.

Cas112 · 27/05/2024 00:57

Around a similar age OP

RaisinRainbow · 27/05/2024 00:58

Mid 50s. I thought I was getting away with it due to healthy diet and lifestyle, but suddenly everything about my face gave up! Loss of glow, saggy jowls, wrinkles more pronounced. Looking tired and meh all the time. Seems so unfair!

justjuggling · 27/05/2024 02:36

About 43-45. Am now 50 and think I look so old.

Soñando25 · 27/05/2024 05:09

60ish really. Was fortunate to inherit youthful genes and I'm not overly self critical. My hands do look old though, but I don't mind, as I feel like I'm looking at my lovely Mum's hands.

LondonQueen · 27/05/2024 05:15

When I saw an advert for earplugs and thought they're a great idea for the bar!

BobnLen · 27/05/2024 05:28

Probably about 55, there obviously were signs of aging from about 30 but when I got to 55-60, that all palled into insignificance

DramaAlpaca · 26/05/2024 23:03

I'm about to turn 60. I'm in total denial about that, can't get my head around it, but I think I still look OK. I've very few lines on my face and my hair is still its natural dark blonde. I wouldn't want anyone to look too closely at my neck, though.

I think HRT might have a lot to do with it, I'll probably disintegrate completely if I ever have to come off it.

I had a friend who said she literally aged ten years when she stopped HRT😱

I am staying on it forever😂

I hate the loss of glow and my number 11 lines between my eyes make me look pissed off 😬 usually I have a fringe but last cut was a bit short so looking angry until it grows again 😐

distinctpossibility · 27/05/2024 07:40

I have a really expressive face so I'm going to be very wrinkly. 35 now and started to notice quite defined 11s between my eyebrows and a few wrinkles around my mouth. Skincare for me is a wash with shower gel, E45 in the winter and factor 30 £3 suncream from Asda in the summer. No one has seen me in make up since 2012 so I'm unlikely to start now. I like my face, I'm ok with it at the moment. Hopefully I stay ok with it as I can't really be faffed with learning new skills!

TryingToSeeTheFunnySide · 27/05/2024 07:45

I think different people age in different ways. So, I started to get lines around my eyes as a teenager! Just seems to be the way my face moves. But, no real lines anywhere else, and only recently had first grey hairs (very few) and I'm over 40.
Some people maintain very young figures, but have very wrinkled, sagged faces. Other people youthful plumped faces, but very old figures. So, it's really hard to say.
I can't pinpoint a moment where I thought 'gosh I've aged' as it's more gradual.
I think if you keep smiling, you look lovely regardless of age. So, that's the thing to do - smile, and try not to frown 😊

Liblabflipflop · 27/05/2024 07:49

42ish, as others said it was the point when I realised it wasn’t tiredness from kids.

i do wonder about posters in their 20s - this strikes me as a self esteem issue. I had a young friend wanting forehead Botox for what was clearly lines from her face moving.

I had no age related concerns before my 40s. Even now, I’m happy with my face. Enjoy your life as much as you can.

SharonEllis · 27/05/2024 07:52

27! I thought you were going to be at least 45. I was around 50 I suppose. A few wrinkles are not aging, they make you look your age, which different & enhance your character. Your choice of course but a botoxed face just looks odd to me.

FknOmniShambles · 27/05/2024 07:53

I'm 39 and starting to notice. When I look back on photos from two years ago, the difference in my skin is depressingly noticeable.

Lisbeth50 · 27/05/2024 07:53

Mid to late 40s. Suddenly put on weight which won't go away despite being very active and having always been slim.
