When did you start to notice that you'd aged?

I'm turning 27 next week, which obviously I know is not old but I've just looked at myself in the mirror whilst I was doing my skin care and I'm already noticing more lines and creases! Especially around the eye area 😬

I'm dreading aging more and am starting to think about getting some Botox.

At what age did you start to notice?

Little changes like first fine lines and grey hairs probably late 30s. Now at 45 things are starting to happen (hair is very grey at front and I can see the beginnings of a crepey neck). I still looks good but clearly heading into middle age and my friends all look similar.

DistinguishedSocialCommentator · 26/05/2024 23:01

at 60ish

52 and still no wrinkles. Stay out of the sun 😊

I stay out of the sun and am 45 with very few wrinkles but not none at all so it's either genetics or good luck in your case!

I have always looked young for my years until I went through menopause. My skin and hair got very dry no matter how much moisturizer I use it's always dry. I got far more tired too. Before I had loads of energy now I get tired quickly. Even taking additional Vitamin D and fic acid as mine are low hasn't really improved my tiredness.

Puravida23 · 26/05/2024 23:02

From about 50 plus it ramped up I have literally gone from a jar of Nivea is fine to a chest full of anti aging products to now scowling plastic surgery. (I won’t do it!) The decline has been incredible every day brings a new wrinkle or sag

DramaAlpaca · 26/05/2024 23:03

I'm about to turn 60. I'm in total denial about that, can't get my head around it, but I think I still look OK. I've very few lines on my face and my hair is still its natural dark blonde. I wouldn't want anyone to look too closely at my neck, though.

I think HRT might have a lot to do with it, I'll probably disintegrate completely if I ever have to come off it.

TheSmallAssassin · 26/05/2024 23:04

I loved how, in my 30s, I started feeling more confident about who I was and what I could do. I didn't want to look like a teenager (though I love looking at the beautiful skin of my young adult children), lines and creases are inevitable as you use your face to smile and laugh and cry, embrace them 😊

loropianalover · 26/05/2024 23:06

I turned 28 this month and it was the first birthday that I thought wow I’m starting to look different in my face. I always had a baby face through college but recently I can really see how much older I look since then. Not wrinkles or lines per se, just a bit more aged.

Crikeyalmighty · 26/05/2024 23:07

I would say early 50s ( 10 years ago) neck and chest went somewhat crepey and deep lines between eyes at top of nose and on forehead

Alicewinn · 26/05/2024 23:07

50, suddenly realised i have a pot belly

Westiegirl3 · 26/05/2024 23:09

I'm 41 and not feeling it yet, I actually got ID'd on my 40th birthday if I was over 25 or not?
I definitely wouldn't say I look that young but early 30's maybe, however my hands show from age from years of steroid cream from suffering with eczema

stayathomer · 26/05/2024 23:09

I’m 44 and last year I had one of those ‘look in the mirror’ moments you see on tv. Hair was greying, skin looked greyer, eyes looked a bit more sunken. It was me being run down but I did notice the signs of aging too. In terms of my body 38- arthritis in knees, back went, got stomach issues and suddenly sugar was an issue!!! Was a shock!!!😅

At 46, seemingly overnight my neck looked crepey and I started to get a hint of jowls. My hair and eyesight both changed too. Hair thinned and went grey for the first time, and my eyesight deteriorated so I had to start wearing glasses all day.
In hindsight it was the start of peri-menopause. I’d always looked mich younger than my age until then so it was a shock, and still is.

Could have written this word for word.

My experience is identical to this

Just wait till you all hit your 60s, you’ve not seen or felt anything else….

Oh no! I didn’t like turning 50. What further hell awaits!!

@pinklite When you look back to how you look now I’m sure you’ll think you look young. When I look at photos of me I wonder why I thought I looked terrible. And see how young o looked. Even photos of me on my 40s.

Mrsdht · 26/05/2024 23:23

As others have said, peri MP. I think I've always looked OK for my age but now the lines are quite visible and the jowls are a killer. I'm 51. Partner is 56. I have no grey hair, he does... And is mostly bald. He insists I look way younger than my age, but alas it is his rose tinted glasses. I more than look my age now and that's fine. I'm happy to age disgracefully kicking about in joggers and hi top trainers 🤣🤣
I always had big boobs and was quite proud of the fact they still looked OK. Alas they're heading south rapidly. I imagine it only gets worse on the run up to 60. But...a lot don't get the privilege (kids dad passed accidentally aged 53) so I'm thankful

45 in a couple of weeks. Not noticed yet. I mean I obviously have aged, I think I look about 45, but I don't take any interest in examining what makes me look my age or caring. I'm happy being 45 and looking it.

I'm only 30 but feel the same and hope I still do at 45 like you Smile I am quite grey which was unexpected but it doesn't bother me.

FinallyHere · 26/05/2024 23:30

Early sixties, when I lost loads of weight.

Turns out, the serious fat layers had kept my face and body puffed up but smooth skinned. Imagine my surprise when the skin especially over my stomach just didn't return to how it looked in my thirties (was overweight for decades).

Happy with how I look in clothes, without, not so much. Who knew ?

BringMeSunshineAllDayLong · 26/05/2024 23:32

A couple of years ago. It doesn't bother me. I'm quite pleased to have made it to 50. I've lost some friends and had a health scare a few years ago so am happy to be alive.
I have lots of smile lines suddenly this year and I like them. The aches can fuck off though.

LaWench · 26/05/2024 23:32

Late 30s I reckon but I'm overweight so that hid a lot of the lines. Didn't start botox until 42 and only a teeny amount evey 9m or so. I'm impressed with it despite not wanting to go down that route.

In my 40s and suddenly woke up to the fact that l was having sex with my glasses on. 🤓

🤣🤣🤣

Newcrocs · 26/05/2024 23:35

45 and I've just noticed the start of jowls. Apart from that I'm in good nick

PinkSunsetSky · 26/05/2024 23:40

This year .
42 and up
until now everything had been fine
But now all of a sudden I have jowels.
Have to dye my roots every two weeks.
Wax my face every two weeks
Wrinkles on my forehead
TBH it’s the jowels that is upsetting me , I don’t care about the rest

Newcrocs · 26/05/2024 23:40

Looking back in more detail my hair has been going grey since early 30s but I dye it, I have extensions for more fullness but that went after my last child when I was also early 30s 😂

Newcrocs · 26/05/2024 23:42

@PinkSunsetSky the Jowls are upsetting aren't they

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 26/05/2024 23:48

Around 57...
