What can I do with meatballs?

What can I do with meatballs, other than serve with mash and gravy, or in a tomato sauce with spaghetti? Bought a big pack now looking for other ideas. They are pork and beef meatballs. Thanks

I do a one pan with gnocci. Fry onions peppers and the meatballs. Add sauce or whatever you prefer for saucy base (I like the tinned cherry tomatos) and then chuck in the gnocci

I know not a huge difference from pasta and sauce

We had them in curry when I thought I had chicken but had none! Meatballs were the only option available but they were really nice.

Squash them flat and make mini burgers. My children like this.

break them up and make anything you’d normally make with mince, lasagna, chilli, bolognaise etc

Have a look at recipes with Middle Eastern spices e.g. cumin, cinnamon, turmeric etc and serve them with rice or couscous, and a big dollop of minted yoghurt on the side.

Meatball subs would be my preference. In a tomato's sauce, I'd choose something with a bit of chilli, then a decent mature cheddar or a spicy one like mexicana, good soft sub roll and lean over a plate when eating to catch the dollops of sauce that fall out.

Seconded. I like them in a tomato based curry sauce with lots of chilli, but probably a lot of veggies would work.

Put a nice sauce over them - sun dried tomato pesto goes well, then serve with salad topped with grated cheese.

Kofta curry.

Devilsmommy · 26/05/2024 13:26

I've used them in a stir fry when it was the only meat in the house. Surprisingly nice🤣

PeppermintParty · 26/05/2024 13:26

Slice in half and use as a pizza topping?

dancinfeet · 26/05/2024 13:27

we put them in a pasta bake

Slide them onto several knitting needles and make an edible abacus.

PossumintheHouse · 26/05/2024 13:29

It involves mash, so breaking the rules, but it's really tasty. Cook meatballs with peppercorn sauce, homemade mash and jelly - ideally lingonberry - on the side.

Or you could do meatball subs with salad.

Tagine using Middle Eastern spices and served with cous cous (I've done with lamb meatballs but I'm sure it would be fine)

PossumintheHouse · 26/05/2024 13:36

Meatball kebabs aka edible abacus also a good shout. 😂

Chinese style - sounds weird but pour over half sweet chilli sauce half plum sauce

I use the sweet chilli in my stir fry but am now going to try with the plum. Thanks for the tip😁

Came on here to say this. We do with beef, turkey or beef and pork meatballs.

harissa, smoked paprika, garlic, cumin, preserved lemons, garlic, onions, Peppers. Bake in oven on 170c for 25 mins, add can of drained chickpeas, 400g passata, tablespoon of tomato paste. Adjust seasoning and bake for another 30 mins ish

Serve with rice or cous cous and flat breads

Or

Bake meatballs in the oven on 180c 20 mins with chopped onion, garlic and Peppers. Add can of pizza sauce (mutti 400g) couple tablespoons of bbq sauce, black pepper, bake for another 10 mins. Take out and cover with grated monterrey jack or 3 cheese mix. Back into oven until bubbling and melted. Serve on subs or over sweet potato fries/wedges, rice or baked potatoes
