My children like each other

I was just listening to them chatting and laughing upstairs, DD16 and DS12. I grew up with an older brother who had undiagnosed mental health problems, it was hard, he wasn’t nice to me and my parents tiptoed around him for an easy life. Even now we have a strained relationship. My DH had the same kind of relationship with his DB, the DB is estranged from the family. My DD has asd and suffers with her mental health also, but her relationship with her DB is just so lovely. I wish I could have had that with my DB. It just makes me so happy to hear them getting along.

It’s possible! And I agree, it’s lovely. My sister is my best friend and I always wanted that for my DC. One has left home but is here today helping the other with something, totally voluntarily, which is so nice to see. Hasn’t always been plain sailing between them but so far looking good for the future! Really hope it continues into adulthood for your two.
