I've burnt my husbands birthday cake 😭

So annoyed with myself.

Had it on gm5 and had spilt some batter down the front of the oven so I've wiped it down around the knobs and turned it upto gm9 whilst doing so.

Completely burnt and I don't have any more butter, I don't drive, it's pissing it down so have to walk 45 mins in rain to get more ingredients.

Bloody pain in the bun!!

Can the very middle part be saved at all? He could, at least, be presented with a mini cake x

Cut the burnt bits off, smother in icing, jobs a good 'un. It's the thought that counts.

Can you trim it? Or is it coal 😄

Do you have any vegetable oil? Lots of American recipes use this instead of butter and it works really well

Agree with PP - bake a new cake with oil - lots of nice recipes online.
