Anyone else prefer cold food to hot?

I hadn't noticed this before, probably as it never really occurred to me, just doing my thing. But recently having a chat with DP about how we both like such different foods, I realised that I tend to choose cold meals around 80% of the time.

No idea if this is unusual, but having a gander online it seems to be a more popular choice for 'lunch' than dinner/tea. Was similar when young as always preferred a cold sandwich with tuna, chicken, cheese salad and so on to a cooked meal. I prefer toast cold as well as potatoes, rice, pasta and fish. Apart from potentially being a bit more open to food poisoning, lol, I dare say it isn't a big deal, but it's interesting.

So I tried to recall childhood preferences and it tallies to a good extent, much to my parent's confusion. I have no idea if this makes much of a difference health-wise, as I still get my share of nutrients and calories, just not from typically hot meals. The only foods that I prefer hot are eggs, and certain veg (broccoli, cauliflower, etc). This also means that I tend to choose tinned fish over fresh, such as mackerel. I do love pan fried sea bass on occasion, but still with cold potatoes and salad. The idea of hot soups and casseroles does nothing for me at all.

Anyone else like this? Is it at all unusual?

Yes, I am the same. Much prefer cold meals to hot ones. Same for snacks.

I haven't really thought about it until now. I tend to make sure we have at least one hot meal a day, but I think that's more out of habit and thinking it's the right thing to do. I don't think I am bothered either way really. There are hot dishes I love, and equally I love salads and cold meat, cold quiche, sandwiches etc. However if having potatoes they would usually be hot because I can't be faffed with making potato salad etc. and if I'm going to boil/bake potatoes I might as well have them hot.

I don't know but I'm the complete opposite. I almost never eat cold food by choice and I hate it when food is served fridge cold. Its just so unappetising.

My lunches are usually warmed up leftover dinner and even if I have more conventional lunches I'll always toast the pitta to go with hummus or choose a toasties over a cold cheese sandwich for example.

Cold 100%

Well, there's a difference between 'cold', and not 'hot'. When I make food my wife will eat it straight away, were talking piping hot, whereas I'll let it sit for a good ten minutes so that it's closer to a warm-room temperature.

Big fan of ice cream though:)

I often like a warmed tortilla or ciabatta, although usually filled with sliced fresh veg and tuna, crumbly cheese or cream cheese. Have also developed a taste for gnocchi, which is tempting me over to warmer things...
