We are currently living in Devon and though in military accommodation in the most beautiful place and we have been here for 7 years. (relocated from up north) our 3 DC have thrived here.
Over here last few years there have a few things that have changed the place satisfaction, school issues, house size, work commutes, changes in children’s hobbies/friend groups etc..
DH has just came back from deployment and has been offered a job at HMS Raleigh in Cornwall and off the back we have been offered a house in Torpoint.
The house and garden is double the size of the one we have just now, could throw a stone into DH’s work (currently a 1 1/2 - 2 hour commute) nearer my work as well with much more options if I was to look for something in Torpoint.
One daughter would not have to move schools but other two DC would
All family members are for the move!
I am on board mostly but I’m not getting the warm fuzzy feeling when I drive into Torpoint compared to our area just now and I’m worried about the hundreds of small differences that me as a mum is worrying about that no one else is considering, ie the safety of the girls walking the dog at 10pm, moving a DC with SEND’s implications to a school we don’t know, crime level being much higher and not feeling safe if DH has to go away for work (not likely in this job but not impossible)
I should add that I do know some lovely ladies who live here and really enjoy it and I am by a nature a worrier and over thinker we are very lucky where we are just now so maybe all my concerns are nonsense.
I wonder if anyone has lived/lives in Torpoint and could tell me a little more about the area, do you like living there, is it a good place to to bring up teenagers, do you feel safe, is their a good community feel.
Any information would be much appreciated.
