I'm thinking of joining the local club so I can go with my DC to do something fun and active together. Dc are 7 and 8, what size rackets should they have? (Rackets? Raquets?? )

You could get junior tennis rackets for them, something like these! The shorter handle just makes it easier to control.

I imagine they would need either 21 inch or 23 inch tennis rackets. When they hold the racket by their side it should be inline with their ankle is its touches the floor it's too big. Tennis HQ has loads of kids' rackets to choose from at they are not expensive at all about £20-£25
