I just plucked a hair from my collarbone that was about seven inches long…

And to add insult to injury, it was totally grey, wiry and SPLIT (like seriously gnarly).

Why has this happened?

How did it get that long without me noticing?

Will I get others?

Am I actually a yeti?

Why my collarbone? Are hairy collarbones a thing?

Seriously, WTF?

Am comfortably into my 40s. Is this normal? Is this just life now? I really need to know.

Send help!

Oh I love those.

I occasionally get one on my cheek. Goes from zero to about five inches overnight.

This happens to me randomly! A few times now I have pulled a REALLY long hair from a random place and it never grows back again. One was on my bum cheek! I’m a very unhairy blonde woman as well

DaysofHoney · 24/05/2024 14:19

Ooh but how deeply satisfying to pull it.

Willtheraineverstop · 24/05/2024 14:20

I found the longest fucking white hair ever on my back in my early twenties, I actually cried 😂 it never grew back though, so weird

Givemethesun · 24/05/2024 14:25

Ooo I get these! Swear they grow in about two seconds randomly. Always wondered why!!

Westfacing · 24/05/2024 14:38

I've had one that used to grow out of my wrist, just under the thumb - about 3" long, very thin and white and almost impossible to pull out, but hasn't appeared in a long time.

I once pulled on a piece of cotton that was entwined in the 2nd button hole down on my blouse only to discover the bastard was a hair that was quite painful to pull out of my chest!

Welcome to your first Hag Hair!

I’m going with the Yeti theory, OP. I’ve got one that grows out the side of my neck but only when I can’t find the tweezers.

Cerialkiller · 24/05/2024 15:04

It's likely to have been just a hair from your head that got stuck in your skin. This happens. You would have noticed otherwise. If that's the case it won't grow back.

ClashCityRocker · 24/05/2024 15:07

Yes I get random head hair that's managed to attach itself and grow into my skin. I had one the other day about seven inches long needing to be plucked from my ear lobe.

(Also, sadly, my fair share of menopausal whiskers!)

WingingItSince1973 · 24/05/2024 17:27

I had a really long thick white one from the top of my nose when I was pregnant in my 30s. I hadn't noticed it at all and wonder if anyone else had and not wanted to tell me. Was really quite thick for a hair and wiry.

LizzieBennett73 · 24/05/2024 17:36

I was rubbing my forehead once and pulled out a hair from the centre that was about 3" long. How on earth I hadn't seen it was mystifying. Nearly cried too pulling the fucker out, it was rooted in with cement I think.

I get a repeat offender on the inside of my arm, very thin, wispy and long
