I moved recently and ever since I have been bitten frequently in what I am fairly sure are flea bites. I have no pets, though the previous owners did. I don't have carpets either so I don't know where they are hiding. I have tried Indorex and vacuuming. removing the bag frequently. I am still getting bitten most days. The thing is I haven't actually seen any of them but what else can it be? out of desperation I called rentokil and was told as I haven't seen any fleas they won't treat. What do I do now? It can't be bedbugs as I have bought a brand new mattress.

Buy a household flea spray that contains permethrin and spray around the edges of every room. Leave it there. Also spray any soft furnishings and the inside of your hoover.

Fleas lay their eggs in dark corners and soft places, jump out and feed on you, then return until they get hungry again. The permethrin spray coats the eggs and kills any fleas that hatch - that's why its important not to hoover.

After a week, hoover and re-spray. You may need to do this a few times.

It does pong a bit and can get on your chest so, if you can, spray everywhere then go out for a couple of hours to let it settle.

If you use a flea bomb, cover your smoke detectors!
