Hi there, I'm 59, married for years, very out of date about modern habits re dating,sex etc. I was chatting to a friend last night and said that as I understood it, many young folk arrange a one night stand type of thing via an app like Tinder. While in our day we had just gone to the pub, got drunk, and went home with some we fancied. She thought I'd got it totally wrong and that didn't happen. Which is very possible. So I said I'd ask here. Do people hook up for sex online or not? Or is that just for dating? Thanks for helping the chronically out of touch!

It literally lists ethical non monogamy and polyamory before casual sex, both of which are dating/relationship styles. So you're wrong.

ETA kink and swinging are also part of relationships and dating. So it lists 4 different types of relationships people may be looking for as well as casual sex.

I thought people often used apps just for casual sex, and often just that, my friend thought I'd got it wrong. I didn't express it well I guess.

Some people do use them just for casual sex - but others are looking for relationships.

I delved into OLD after I got divorced. I also went on some nights out in town (not
something I did much in recent years). I found that on OLD - some people wanted ONS, some wanted to date/ have relationships and some only wanted to sext and never had any intention of meeting up. On nights out, people still look to hook up, just like we did in olden days 😁
