SSP while on holiday?

I have been off work for the whole of May as I have been recovering from an operation. My surgeon has signed me off and provided a sick note.

I am fit to return to work now, but I have a pre-booked holiday which starts today until 4 June. It is our family holiday and we are going away so no chance of rebooking for a different date.

Can I be paid SSP for this period and also use up the holiday days or should it be one or the other?

I would rather (if possible) be paid my full pay for the week but if I am going to to be paid SSP, I feel I should be able to use the holiday days at another time.

I will email my boss in a while, but before I do, does anyone know what my position is?

If you're signed off for the whole of May you can use the SSP. Or you can go back to the doctors and get a fit note, that way you can take and be paid for the holiday as planned.

You are able to do a mix, yes. If you mix, the holidays booked in May can be added back to your allowance.

If it goes as sick then you should get the holidays back, if it goes as holiday you should get full pay, it should be one or the other, it can’t be that you get ssp but also lose 5 days of your annual holiday

At my work you cannot take holiday pay when off sick. I’d agree with others go to doctor and get a fit note to return before holidays or stay off sick and go on holidays. You would keep holiday entitlement if you were I’ll.
