Anyone here had that awful Colonoscopy prep drink?

It's vile. I have a banging headache and feel physically sick 🤢

I am drinking lots alongside it.

I'm on the first dose and still have another whole 500ml after this bastard 1st one

It is awful! I am nearing the end and feel as if I will vomit. Will the treatment still work if I do?

I had Moviprep.

It was horrific... By the time I was finished drinking it I was crapping water out me bum..
Worse than having the camera shoved up.

DH has had it a few times. Last time he did vomit but apparently it work enough for it to work.

If you feel sick the advice is to stop for 30 mins and then try again.

Try drinking it cold from the fridge (helps numb the taste buds) and use a straw.

On the bright side, the prep is the worse bit. Use vaseline on your bum from the first crap. You get sore from wiping really fast. Good luck.

I am but for some reason, the straw made me gag more so had to stop

Hate to think what it's like at room temp I've got it ice cold and it's making me want to vomit so badly

If it's Plenvu it is revolting 😞I couldn't manage the whole lot and actually threw up towards the end. I was worried they wouldn't be able to do it and was dreading having to go through it again but it was OK and really clear. Hope it all goes well for you.

Hmm plenvu is meant to be better than moviprep! I found it more palatable mixed with squash (Not blackcurrant! It’s stains the bowel) - I used lime cordial I think. I’d drink some, then down something else. I had lucozade sport. I did a sip every minute for a bit. Slow and steady.
You’ll think it’s not working…then suddenly it will. Second the Vaseline.

Plenvu is beyond awful! Good luck with the second one. As previous posters have said - drinking the prep is honestly the worst part of the whole experience!

Yes lots of vaseline, the second has you shutting acid .

I recommend applying Vaseline LIBERALLY around your bumhole before the poo even starts because it’s like shitting lava. For hours.

I've just been violently sick really hoping this will still work

Worried it won't. I've had to really make things work childcare wise so I can attend and hate to think it's all been for nothing

My husband struggled but managed to get the first lot down. The second lot he only managed two thirds as he felt really sick & shivery.he still had the procedure. 16 polyps removed. No one commented that it wasn't clear. Good luck op, the preparation is far worse than the colonoscopy itself according to my husband.

It's grim OP, no other way to describe it.
I've had three colonoscopies and the cleanout drink (Moviprep in my case) was by far the worst bit.
Usually the second dose does the clear out, so just keep sipping.
I interspersed mine with lemonade, lime jelly and a class of white wine!!! (With beautiful results by morning )

I’ve hads couple of colonoscopies and never had a problem with Moviprep. I hold my nose and chug it! Trackie bottoms and an en-suite bathroom, yes to the Vaseline. My bowel prep was described as ‘excellent’ by the GI nurse 😇

If you haven’t seen Ricky Gervais prep for his colonoscopy in the movie “Ghost Town,” I recommend it highly.
And then when the nurse questions him at hospital - it’s quite funny.
So is the part when they’re wheeling him down the hall and instead of discussing his procedure, they’re talking about spray tans.

I haven't but my dad had moviprep. He said the drink was worse than the colonoscopy!

For some reason I thought mixing it with sprite might make it a lot better I think if possible it made it worse (mprep ) the actual examination was a walk in the park in comparison 🙈
