5yo not “into” anything

Wondering if anyone else has a little one round about the same age who isn’t really “into” anything or seem to have any particular interests yet? My ds likes lots of things (enjoys a variety of different books, riding his scooter/bike, watching Paddington and Octonauts, sellotaping everything in the house, etc though isn’t that fussed about toys or any kind, just plays with what he has occasionally) but doesn’t seem super excited by or passionately interested in anything yet like some of his friends are (dinosaurs and Spiderman, mainly). This isn’t a problem of course, I’m just curious about what age other people’s LOs developed their passions, what those are, and how they got into them? Or if it’s quite typical for kids to not have specific interests until quite a bit older.

My niece was never into dolls or stuffed toys. She had a Build a Bear toy with a wardrobe to die for (dull Auntie) but it lounged around in a pair of knickers. In hindsight I wanted one and would have dressed it in accordance to the occasion, weather or season but it wasn't to be.

She has never sat down and avidly read books, she has no interest. Her Mum was a real bookworm at the age my niece is now.

She had lots of stuff growing up and a lot of opportunities but a lot of it was just a passing fancy. As a teenager she is just interested in drama, singing and Disney Florida.

I wouldn't worry, we are all different.

Totally normal, at least for my two!

They have both since developed a lot of strong interests but still no one passion- they are all rounders, and that’s fine.

Normal. My nephew is too obsessed with dinosaurs! His mum is trying to get him to open his horizons and play with something else!

Thanks for the feedback so far! Just to emphasise - I’m not worried, just curious :)

Yes, it's normal. When DS started school we were sent a questionnaire about his interests and I just had to say to DH 'Should we put "Running around making a noise like a crazed dinosaur"?' because that seemed to be his main pasttime to be honest!
