It's probably our fault, but our nearly 17 year old DD has minimal knowledge about democracy/parliament etc.

"What is a seat?", she asked tonight.

Looking back I think I probably I went to an odd state school, but our form tutor made us slog through manifestos during registration periods in the run up to elections. I just assumed they covered this stuff at school.

Are there any good places to direct her? We're all off in separate directions over half term.

It's covered in gcse citizenship - this subject was compulsory at our local state school - is it not compulsory everywhere?

Thanks FanSpamtastic. There is a nice little one-pager in Welsh KS3 Citizenship. DD didn't have to General Studies (and I'd never heard of Citizenship).
