Quite incredible. We live in a benefits UK....

To all those rational minded intelligent people out there..
The second most popular search term today is DWP holiday warning.

What does that tell you?

What's a coconut placard?

menopausalmare · 22/05/2024 17:15

Ah, a quick Google reveals......

HippeePrincess · 22/05/2024 17:16

Yes because it’s been in the news, so everyone’s is incredulously searching to see if it’s actually real that they police you’re whereabouts.

ALongHardWinter · 23/05/2024 19:30

What is a DWP holiday warning?! Unfortunately,I have a fair idea.

ClaustrophobicKipper · 23/05/2024 19:34

It's a suprise to some because they don't know the rules but they have ALWAYS had these rules its just that prior to being online you could just tell your jobcoach and they would make a note of it these days its a fuss and people try not to tell them which then gets them into difficulties

TheKingCobraIsNotStrictlySpeakingACobra · 23/05/2024 19:44

”Trending” isn’t the most searched for terms on Google for the day, btw. It’s just a breakout trend - eg searches for the term were less than 10 at 5.59pm and then by 6.10pm the topic was on the teatime news, so 2000 people googled it within seconds of one another, so a huge, sudden increase for that search term all at once.

thats why eastenders related search terms will be tending too, as its just been on tv presumably

MySocksAreDotty · 23/05/2024 19:45

YAB very U not explaining what it is?!

LieutOliviaBenson · 23/05/2024 19:47

That people are more interested in coconut placards.

RafaistheKingofClay · 23/05/2024 19:48

menopausalmare · 22/05/2024 17:14

What's a coconut placard?

And why were people suddenly googling them yesterday?

MySocksAreDotty · 23/05/2024 19:49

What is a coconut placard either?!😆

TuesdayWhistler · 23/05/2024 19:50

This is the weakest attempt at whipping up froth against benefit claimants that I've seen yet.

PATHETIC.

MintTwirl · 23/05/2024 19:51

That it’s been on the news so people are looking it up? Why OP, what do you think it tells us?

Now I’m going to see what a coconut placard is.

Overthebow · 23/05/2024 19:51

RafaistheKingofClay · 23/05/2024 19:48

And why were people suddenly googling them yesterday?

Well rishi was making an announcement and people wanted to be eco friendly so they decided coconut was the desired choice

TuesdayWhistler · 23/05/2024 19:55

Overthebow · 23/05/2024 19:51

takemeawayagain · 23/05/2024 19:57

A teacher will appear in court next month after she was pictured carrying a placard featuring Rishi Sunak and Suella Braverman as coconuts ...

Just FYI

0/10, OP. It's exam season, do better.

hiredandsqueak · 23/05/2024 19:59

Many moons ago when I worked for the Benefits Office (pre DWP) there was a form then to fill in if a claimant was going on holiday. I used to explain that if they said no that they wouldn't be available for work if the Job Centre called they wouldn't get paid before I filled it in to ensure they said yes as it seemed unfair back then and I knew full well nobody was going to call them so it's not a new thing.

Basically, if you're on some benefits, don't go on holiday...

You know, how all the benefit bashing imbeciles on MN know someone that knows someone that claims benefits and goes on 6 months long holidays 3 times a year.

🤪

Definitely, it's a popular search as it has been in the news. Probably searched for by people obsessed with others claiming benefits.

I've never claimed Universal Credit but have claimed JSA in the past when I was made redundant and I had a holiday booked and already paid for which I wasn't changing for anyone so I remember googling the rules at the time.

Ah. I do remember that from when she was originally arrested.
