Horrific period pain. What could it be

I have regular cycles. Always about 34-35 days on the dot. Never painful.

This is cycle day 17ish and I am bent over in agony. Not TTC! But I just keep track of my cycles, always have

I have not had period pain since my teens. And only remember that pain because labour felt like it to me

I have had pain free periods for years! And I am not due on for over 2 weeks.

Why am I bent over in pain like this? It's awful. I can still carry out daily tasks. So it isn't the worst pain possible that I've ever felt

But it is very present and I find myself walking with a slight bend.

What could this be? Definitely no period due Sad

If you're CD 17 and not on your period then it's not period pain?

mylittleyumyum · 22/05/2024 16:10

Mittelshcmerz? Is it one sided? I used to suffer badly as a teen, had a couple of scans and that's all it was causing the most horrendous pain I've had before or since. It sorted itself out after a few cycles and stopped entirely after my last baby.

Maybe ovarian cyst?

How old are you?

When I was 46-47, my previously regular cycle went haywire, very heavy and very painful.

How old are you? I'm 42 and never had bad period pain until a couple of years ago.

Oh just read you're not actually on your period.
I think you should call 111 just in case it could be an ovarian torsion, my friend had this and the sooner it's treated the better.

SeaToSki · 22/05/2024 16:21

Its unlikely to be period pain.

some other options are
ovarian torsion
gas
appendicitis
the beginning of norovirus or similar

do you have a temperature or any other symptoms, have you any other illnesses?

Thank you all ladies (I assume!)

Yes, CD17 so not period pain but that's what it feels like. It's an exact copy of labour pains (for me labour was, luckily, never that unbearable. Just intense at contraction peaks)

I thought it could possibly be ovulation pain (never had it), but it's a bit early in my cycle. I've always ovulated around day 19/20 like clockwork since about age 20

I am about 15 or so years too early for menopause so I'd have thought it would be an unlikely link

It's frustrating because the pain is intense and somewhat quite severe. But I couldn't ask GP - obvious reasons! And 111 just say go to A&E for everything Blush

Thanks again for the suggestions

Thank you

Otherwise well. No recent bugs. Don't feel sick or unwell. No temp

I don't have an appendix so cannot be that

Ovulation. It can cause pain a couple of days prior, and can be so severe that women have been known to go to A&E thinking something is really wrong.

Unless it is just the left side in which case you need a poo.
